Foch is a hybrid grape that ripens very well on the Saanich Peninsula.  Our Foch is a medium bodied wine, with rich plum and cassis flavors, and undertones of cinnamon, mocha, and vanilla. Aged in American and French oak barrels.  Expect to age well 3 – 5 years.

Description

Marechal Foch (“Foch”) is a red variety of hybrid grape.  It was created in 1886 in Colmar, Alsace, by the French Viticulturist Eugene Kuhlman by crossing the hybrid grape Millardet et Grasset 101-14 (which is vitis vinifera x vitis rupestris) with the vitis vinifera Gold riesling.   Kuhlman also developed the hybrid grapes Leon Millot (“Millot”) , Marechal Joffre and Lucie Kuhlmann from the same trials.

ABOUT US

Our land has been farmed by our family since the late 1950’s, first in strawberries and then 20 acres of loganberries.  We planted our first vines in 2004 and focus on crisp, dry, aromatic white wines and rosé, and lightly barrel aged, fruit forward reds.
